Joseph Gobanz

Joseph Gobanz (born March 1, 1831 in Eisenkappel Carinthia ; † September 29, 1899 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) was an Austrian teacher, zoologist , geologist and geographer .

Live and act

Gobanz in 1962 at the University of Graz Dr. phil. obtained his doctorate after he had already passed the teaching examination for natural history there in 1856. From 1858 to 1870 he was a professor at the secondary school in Graz. 1970 to 1896 he held the position of state school inspector for elementary schools and teacher training institutions in Klagenfurt.

Gobanz worked, among other things, with fossil mollusks .
