Joseph Ngô Quang Kiệt
Joseph Ngô Quang Kiệt (born September 4, 1952 in My Són , Lạng Sơn Province in Vietnam ) is retired Archbishop of Hanoi .
Life
His name combines western name tradition ( Joseph as a first name before the family name Ngô ) with a Vietnamese ( Quang Kiệt as a personal name is behind the family name).
Joseph Ngô Quang Kiệt received on 21 May 1991, the sacrament of Holy Orders . On 3 June 1999 it appointed Pope John Paul II. The bishop of Lang Son and Cao Bang . The episcopal ordination donated to him on June 29th of the same year Jean-Baptiste Bui Tuân , the bishop of Long Xuyên ; Co- consecrators were Emmanuel Lê Phong Thuân , Bishop of Cần Thơ , and François Xavier Nguyên Van Sang , Bishop of Thái Bình . On April 26, 2003, Ngô Quang Kiệt was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Hanoi. His motto is Misereor super turbam .
Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Hanoi on February 19, 2005. On May 29, 2007 Joseph Ngô Quang Kiệt was appointed a member of the Pontifical Council “Cor Unum” . On May 13, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation from the office of Archbishop of Hanoi submitted by Joseph Ngô Quang Kiệt for health reasons.
