Life

The Catholic Freiherr Joseph von Weichs , who came from the Westphalian branch of an old Bavarian tournament family, was the son of the father of the same name and a mother whose name was not known. Coming from Hildesheim after his death certificate in 1826 and born there arithmetically around 1760, he came based on the source evaluation of the relevant files by Horst Romeyk from Bilderlahe not far from Seesen on the northwestern edge of the Harz . First chamberlain to the Prince of York, he married on May 5, 1802 in Schwerin in Bernardine Freiin von Lützow (died before May 1804) the daughter of Court Marshal Ignatz von Lützow (- Goldenbow ) and his wife Bernhardine von Kurtzrock - Wellingsbüttel and after them early death on April 17, 1804, her sister Maria Theresia Walburgis Freiin von Lützow (born approx. 1779 in Schwein; died January 18, 1864 in Königswinter ). In the meantime he had been appointed Prussian district administrator in Hildesheim in 1803 and then sub- prefect in Helmstedt . In the course of the wars of liberation he was promoted to district director in Hasselt in March 1814 , on September 15, 1814 to senior recipient in Aachen and then in the same position at the General Liquidation Commission there.

With his appointment as provisional district administrator in the newly formed Lechenich district in April 1816, Joseph von Weichs took up his last post. He did not take office until January 22, 1818, his final appointment with a general cabinet order of July 6, 1819. Von Weichs died on duty. His successor Friedrich Wilhelm Bilefeldt forced the relocation of the district office from Lechenich to Euskirchen, whereupon the Lechenich district was also renamed.
