Josh Doctson (born December 3, 1992 in Birmingham , Alabama ) is an American American football player on the position of wide receiver . He played college football for the University of Wyoming and Texas Christian University and was selected in the 2016 NFL Draft in the first round by the Washington Redskins . He is currently under contract with the New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Doctson went to high school in Mansfield , Texas . He then attended the University of Wyoming . In his first year for the Wyoming Cowboys , Doctson gained 393 yards of space and caught five touchdowns with 35 passes caught . After his first season, he decided to move to Texas Christian University to be closer to his family. Under the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Doctson had to sit out a year before he was allowed to compete for the TCU.

From 2013 to 2015 Doctson football played at the College for the TCU Horned Frogs in the NCAA Division I FBS. In the three years he came to 179 caught passes and 2,784 yards of space and 29 thrown touchdowns .

NFL

In the 2016 NFL Draft , Doctson was selected 22nd by the Washington Redskins in the first round. In his freshman year, Doctson was out for most of the season due to an Achilles tendon injury . His first touchdown in the NFL came in the third week of the 2017 season against the Oakland Raiders . As a result, Doctson was unable to convince in 2017 and 2018, so the Redskins fired him after three seasons.

For the 2019 season , the Minnesota Vikings signed him for a year. On September 12th, the Vikings put him on the Injured Reserve List . His only appearance with the Vikings was against the Denver Broncos in week 11 . He was on the field for seven snaps but didn't catch a single catch. In the following week the Vikings did not play, Doctson was fired.

On February 22, 2020, the New York Jets signed Doctson.
