Joshua Smith (born March 10, 1992 in Fort Polk , Louisiana ) is an American football player.

Career

Born at the Fort Polk army base in Louisiana , he came to Germany as a child when his father was transferred, first to the US Air Base in Wiesbaden , and later he grew up in Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe . In his youth he played for Karlsruher SC in the U-17 and U-19 Bundesliga . His first senior station was SC 07 Idar-Oberstein , with whom he played in the Regionalliga West in 2011/12 . After graduating from high school, Smith moved back to the US, where he completed a business degree at the University of San Francisco and played for the university team in the NCAA leagues . During this time he was also active for PDL clubs San Jose Earthquakes U-23 and Burlingame Dragons FC . In 2017 Joshua Smith signed up for the MLS SuperDraft and was signed by the New England Revolution . He made six games in the season in Major League Soccer , making his debut on April 3, 2017 in a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers . In January 2018 he returned to Germany and joined the league club SC Hessen Dreieich . Here the defender was not used until the end of the season and the contract was dissolved again. After a full season without a club, Irish first division promoted Finn Harps announced on July 19, 2019 that Smith would be signed by the end of the year. On December 17, 2019, Irish club Galway United announced their commitment.
