Josif Pashko
Josif Pashko (born May 25, 1918 in Vodica, Kolonja district , † September 5, 1963 in Tirana ) was an Albanian politician of the Party of Labor of Albania .
Life
Pashko, who came from a traditionally nationalist family and whose father Pashko Vodica later became Archbishop of the Albanian Orthodox Church , worked as a primary school teacher in the Elbasan region from 1939. Together with his father he joined the partisans in 1942 and participated in the communist anti-fascist war of independence during World War II . During this time he was used as a captain in the Hakmarrje Battalion , the 4th Brigade and the 2nd Division .
After the founding of the People's Republic of Albania, he took over various offices within the state and party administration and was initially a representative of the public prosecution in September 1947 in a trial against alleged saboteurs , treasoners and spies from the ranks of the Balli Kombëtar .
In 1950 he became a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) for the first time and was a member of this from the second to the end of the fourth electoral term as a representative of Erseka in the Kolonja district . In the fifth electoral term, which he did not complete because of his untimely death, he represented Elbasan County in parliament.
On September 6, 1951, he succeeded Mehmet Shehu as Minister of State Control and Chairman of the State Control Commission in Prime Minister Enver Hoxha's cabinet .
At the 2nd party congress of the PPSh in April 1952 he became secretary of the Central Committee . After taking over this office, however, he left the government on April 11, 1952 as Minister of State Control. As Central Committee secretary, he represented the negative stance against the independent course of Titoism pursued by the chairman of the Yugoslav Communist Party, Josip Broz Tito , and declared the "Titoists" to be enemies of Albania.
However, he lost the office of Central Committee Secretary on July 12, 1954 and was replaced in this position by Liri Belishova . However, he remained a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PPSh and became Minister of Construction in the government of Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu on July 20, 1954.
In 1959 the Combine for Construction "Josif Pashko" was named after him, which 50 years later as the Avduli Costruzioni company operated several branches in Albania. Pashko was also a member of the board of directors when the football club KS Dinamo Tirana was founded in 1949.
His wife Eleni Terezi was also a candidate and later a member of the Central Committee and from 1945 to 1966 a member of the People's Assembly.
