Josip Šolar

Josip Šolar (* 1903 in Ljubljana , † 1955) was a Yugoslav cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

In 1919 he started cycling, a year later he won the race from Ljubljana to Velikovec and was able to celebrate his first major success. The following year he was third in the championship race. In 1925 he won the national championship of Yugoslavia in road racing ahead of Antun Banek , who won the championship in the following three years. At the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam he started in the road race and was classified 37th out of 75 starters. That made him the best Yugoslav. With the team of Yugoslavia he came in twelfth place in the team ranking. He started for the club Ilirija Ljubljanana .
