Jost Dillier (born July 9, 1921 in Sarnen ; † April 28, 2016 there ; entitled to live in Sarnen and Kerns ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

education and profession

Dillier attended primary school and grammar school in Sarnen , where he joined Subsilvania Sarnen , a section of the Swiss Student Association, and then began his law studies at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) . In 1948 he received his doctorate and was admitted to the bar in the same year. From 1949 he ran his own office in Sarnen. From 1950 to 1985 Dillier was a part-time public prosecutor for the canton of Obwalden , where one of his tasks was to take action against the wild marriage . Between 1957 and 1966 he worked as an editor at the Obwalden Volksfreund .

Political career

Dillier took over his first political office in 1950, when he was elected to the municipal council and the village council of Sarnen. From 1952 he worked in the secretariat of the Conservative People's Party (from 1957 Conservative-Christian Social People's Party , from 1970 today's CVP) in Obwalden. In 1958 he was president of the municipal council and was elected to the Obwalden cantonal council in the same year . In 1966 he took over the presidency of CVP Obwalden, which he chaired until 1979. In 1970 he resigned from the municipal council and in the same year took a seat on the board of directors of Obwaldner Kantonalbank . On June 1, 1970, he was elected to the Council of States , where he worked in many commissions. On November 30, 1981, he was elected as President of the Council of States , but was not re-elected as Council of States in the current year of office on April 25, 1982 by the Obwalden Landsgemeinde . From 1976 to 1991 he was President of the Federal Commission for Electrical Systems and from 1979 to 1991 a member and later also President of the IV Commission Obwalden.
