Juan de Dios Hernández Ruiz

Juan de Dios Hernández Ruiz SJ (born November 14, 1948 in Holguín ) is a Cuban clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Pinar del Río .

Life

Juan de Dios Hernández Ruiz joined the congregation of the Jesuits , made his profession in 1974 and was ordained a priest on December 26, 1976 .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on December 3, 2005 auxiliary bishop in San Cristóbal de la Habana and titular bishop of Cures Sabinorum . He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of San Cristóbal de la Habana, Cardinal Jaime Lucas Ortega y Alamino , on January 14 of the next year; Co- consecrators were Emilio Aranguren Echeverría , Bishop of Holguín , and Héctor Luis Lucas Peña Gómez , Former Bishop of Holguín.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Pinar del Río on June 5, 2019. The inauguration took place on July 13 of the same year.
