Juchym Leonidowytsch Swjahilskyj (born February 20, 1933 in Donetsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian businessman and politician. He was acting Prime Minister of Ukraine from September 22, 1993 to June 15, 1994.

Svyahilskyj is a graduate of the Donetsk National Technical University , where he graduated as a mining engineer in 1956. He later worked in various positions, most recently as director of shaft no. 13 of the Kujbyschewwuhillja mining combine and then worked as director of other shafts. At the same time he was also engaged in research in the field of mining.

In 1990, Svyahilskyj was elected People's Deputy of Donetsk Oblast . From 1992 he was chairman of the Donetsk city council and in 1993 became the first deputy prime minister of Ukraine. From September 1993 to June 1994 he held the office of Prime Minister on a provisional basis. In 1994 he was elected as a member of the Verkhovna Rada . In the same year he left Ukraine after his replacement as Deputy Prime Minister and lived in Israel until 1997 . In 1998 he was re-elected to parliament. He has been a member of the Party of Regions since 2007 . Among other things, he is the owner of the Sassjadko mine in Donetsk , which gained notoriety due to numerous accidents.

Honors

He received the title Hero of Ukraine (2003) and Hero of Socialist Labor (1986), the Order of the October Revolution in 1981 and in 2009 the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise .
