Juha Tiainen
Juha Tiainen (born December 5, 1955 in Uukuniemi , † April 28, 2003 in Lappeenranta ) was the best Finnish hammer thrower of the 1980s. He won the gold medal in his discipline at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles .
Tiainen was a six-time Finnish hammer throw champion, but could not achieve any other international titles apart from his Olympic victory in Los Angeles . His victory there was greatly facilitated by the fact that the states of the Warsaw bloc boycotted the games and the strong competition from the Soviet Union therefore did not compete.
His personal best was 81.52 m, recorded in Tampere in 1984 , his competition weight was 108 kg with a height of 1.83 m.
