Julián Barrio Barrio (born August 15, 1946 in Manganeses de la Polvorosa , Zamora Province , Spain ) is Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela .
Life
Julián Barrio Barrio received on 4 July 1971 by the Bishop of Astorga , Antonio Briva Mirabent , the sacrament of holy orders and was in the clergy of the diocese of Astorga incardinated . He holds a degree in history and geography from the University of Oviedo . In addition, Julián Barrio Barrio holds a degree in Catholic theology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca .
On 31 December 1992 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Sasabe and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Santiago de Compostela . The Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela, Antonio María Rouco Varela , donated him episcopal ordination on February 7, 1993 ; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, Archbishop Mario Tagliaferri , and the Bishop of Astorga, Antonio Briva Mirabent. On January 5, 1996, John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela. The inauguration took place on February 25 of the same year.
