Juliane Kay
Juliane Kay (born January 9, 1899 in Vienna ; † November 8, 1968 there ; born Ernestine Baumann ) was an Austrian writer and screenwriter .
Life
Juliane Kay performed after attending a theater school in Innsbruck , Munich, Dresden, Vienna and Berlin. Since 1923 she was active in literature and initially wrote plays that she staged herself, such as her folk play Das Dorf und die Menschheit in 1934 , with Agnes Straub playing the leading role in the premiere.
Her novel, Abenteuer im Sommer , was awarded the Youth Prize of the Association of German Narrators in Berlin. Her play The Tailor drives out the devil, which premiered at the Berlin Lustspielhaus , was particularly successful .
In 1939 she delivered her first film script. In the 1950s she was involved in several films as a co-writer. The plot of these productions mainly revolves around love and family problems. In 1953 Juliane Kay received a federal film award for best screenwriter in the form of the Silver Bowl for Don't Forget Love . In later years she wrote mostly novels. She lived in Munich for a long time and finally returned to Vienna.
