Julius von Wedderkop

Julius von Wedderkop , completely Ludwig Julius Emil Karl von Wedderkop , (born March 19, 1849 in Birkenfeld (Nahe) , † December 9, 1921 in Oldenburg (Oldenburg) ) was a Prussian major general and court official in the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg .

Life

Julius von Wedderkop was a son of the Oldenburg lawyer Ludwig von Wedderkop . He embarked on a career as an officer and became a second lieutenant in the Oldenburg Infantry Regiment No. 91 . With the regiment Wedderkop took part in the 7th company during the war against France 1870/71 a. a. participated in the Battle of Vionville and received the Iron Cross II. Class and the Knight of Honor II. Class of the House and Merit Order of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig with Swords for his achievements . After the end of the war, Wedderkop stayed with the occupation troops in France as adjutant of the 2nd battalion. In 1876 he rose to prime lieutenant .

Wedderkop was promoted to captain on October 17, 1880 to the wing adjutant of Grand Duke Peter II . In this position he advanced to major in 1889 . At the same time he was court executive of Duke Georg Ludwig von Oldenburg . Grand Duke Friedrich August appointed him court marshal in 1901 . His successor as adjutant was his cousin, First Lieutenant Curt von Wedderkop. In 1903 he became head marshal and in 1907 head court and house marshal. At the same time he went through the military ranks up to colonel , until he was finally put up for disposal in 1901 with the statutory pension and the authorization to wear the uniform . Wedderkop later received the character of major general.

From his marriage to Luise Zebelius, daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Wilhelm Zedelius (1825–1885), he had the daughter Sophie Adamine Friederike Gustava Paula von Wedderkop (1879–1950). She married Alexander von Falkenhausen (1878–1966) in 1904 .
