Young Wind Philharmonic Ulm

The Junge Bläserphilharmonie Ulm (JBU) ( Ulmer Knabenmusik until 2008 ) is a youth wind orchestra from Ulm (Danube) .
It was founded in 1961 by City Councilor Udo Botzenhart based on the model of the Zurich Boys' Music and is now integrated into the city ​​of Ulm's music school .
Since girls have also been able to enter since 2002, the name was changed accordingly in 2008.

The previous orchestra directors were Paul Kühmstedt (1961–1974), Norbert Nohe (1974–1987) and Kreso Pascuttini (1988–1995).
Today's director and conductor is the former clarinetist in the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Ulm , Josef Christ .
The repertoire of the boys Bläserphilharmonie Ulm ranges from classical music through concert brass music to jazz and modern popular music .

The orchestra went on concert tours to the USA (1997), South Africa (1999 and 2017), Australia (2002 and 2009), Hungary (2004), Tuscany (2005), China (2006 and 2014) and the Netherlands (2008).

Competitions

  • World Youth Music Festival in Zurich 2006: 1st prize in the highest level and special prize for the highest total number of points (354.5 of 360 points).
  • Federal finals of the German Orchestra Competition 2008 in Wuppertal : First place with 23.0 out of 25.0 points in category B2 - Youth Brass Orchestra .
  • Federal final of the German orchestra competition 2012 in Hildesheim : Second place with 22.3 points in the category B2 youth wind orchestra .
  • Federal finals of the German orchestra competition 2016 in Ulm : Second place with 23.4 points in the category B2 youth wind orchestra
