Jure Golčer

Jure Golčer (born July 12, 1977 in Maribor ) is a Slovenian cyclist .

Career

Jure Golčer, who was already under contract with the Austrian mountain bike team Corratec World MTB Team in 2001 , began his professional career on the road in 2002 with the small Slovenian team Perutnina Ptuj-KRKA Telekom and won the Croatian stage race Istrian Spring Trophy in the same year . After one season he switched to the Austrian team Volksbank-Ideal and won a stage of the Tour of Slovenia . The two following years he played for the Italian teams Formaggi Pinzolo Fiavè and Acqua & Sapone-Adria Mobil , where he won the 2004 Giro d'Oro . In 2006 Golčer returned to the Slovenian Continental Team Perutnina Ptuj . At the Triberg-Schwarzwald Grand Prix , three drivers from this team ended up in the top four, and he won the race. In the same year he also won the Slovak one-day race Grand Prix Hydraulika Mikolášek and was Slovenian road racing champion.

From 2007 Jure Golčer drove for the Irish-registered Professional Continental Team Tenax , which merged with Team Lpr to Lpr Brakes-Ballan for the 2008 season . At the Giro d'Italia this year he was an important helper for team captain Danilo Di Luca , but was later able to celebrate his own successes by winning the overall ranking and a stage win on the Tour of Slovenia .
