Jure Natek (born March 30, 1982 in Ljubljana , SR Slovenia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Slovenian handball player . He is 1.94 m tall.
Natek, who last played for the German Bundesliga club SC Magdeburg and played for the Slovenian national team (shirt number 9), was mostly used in the right backcourt , but he could also play on the right wing .
Career
In his youth, Jure Natek played for RD Slovan and RK Termo Škofja Loka before making his debut in the Slovenian first division in 1999 for Prule 67 Ljuljana. After two runner-up championships in 2000 and 2001, he won the Slovenian double championship and cup with Prule in 2002. However, when the capital club had to file for bankruptcy in 2003, Natek and his friend Matjaž Brumen moved on to the series champion RK Celje . There he won the Slovenian championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and 2007, the Slovenian Cup in 2004, 2006 and 2007 and, as the highlight, the EHF Champions League in 2004 . After these successes, Natek was looking for a new challenge and joined the French top club Chambéry Savoie HB in 2007 . After two years in France he returned to his homeland and played for RK Velenje . For the 2010/11 season Jure Natek moved to SC Magdeburg . With the SCM, he won the DHB Cup in 2016 . He ended his career after the 2015/16 season.
Jure Natek made 154 international appearances for the Slovenian national team. At the 2004 European handball championship in his own country, he was runner-up. With Slovenia he took part in the 2007 World Cup in Germany, but only finished 10th; at the European Championships in Norway in 2008 , he retired with his country after the main round.
