The Gitsch is a 2512  m high mountain in the southern Zillertal Alps . It is located above Meransen in the western Puster Valley in the Italian province of South Tyrol . On it is part of the Gitschberg-Jochtal winter sports area with a piste length of approx. 22 kilometers.

A total of three cable cars , a 4- seater chairlift and three ski lifts use the Gitsch .

  • The Gitschberg cable car is a monocable gondola , divided into two sections: the lower "mountain railway" and the upper "Nesselbahn". It has a total length of 3428 m and overcomes a height difference of 707 m. You can get on and off at the middle station. It can transport 2400 people per hour at a speed of 6 m / s and works on the principle of circulation.
  • After using the 10-seater cable car “Ski Express” and the 4-seater chairlift “Gitschberg” with lengths of 1853 and 819 m, as well as height differences of 510 and 295 m, you arrive just below the summit cross with a panoramic explanation.
  • From Gitsch you have a view of the Eisack valley (west and south) with the Zillertal and Sarntal Alps , the city of Brixen (south) and the Pustertal (east). To the south opposite are the Dolomites with the Alpe di Siusi and the Sciliar .
