Career

Morrison began his career in 1997 on the Colorado College team , with whom he was henceforth active in the American college league Western Collegiate Hockey Association , a league in the game operations of the NCAA . There the winger was able to convince right away and was one of the players with the highest points in the team, so that he was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the third round in 81st position during the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 . 1999 Morrison was nominated for the first time for the US junior national team , with which he took part in the Junior World Championship in Canada in the same year . With Team USA he was only able to secure relegation back then in the relegation round. Morrison was used in six games and scored five points, furthermore he had a plus / minus statistic of +4. The left shooter finished his studies and moved in the summer of 2001 to the American Hockey League for the Manitoba Moose , the farm team of the Vancouver Canucks.

After moving to the AHL, however, the attacker never got the chance to prove himself in the National Hockey League at the Vancouver Canucks, and went exclusively for the Manitoba Moose on the ice. A short time later, the American was even only in the squad of the Columbia Inferno from the ECHL , for which he was used in 40 games. At the end of the 2004/05 season , which he spent completely in the AHL due to the lockout in the NHL, Morrison's contract was not renewed, whereupon he joined the Atlanta Thrashers free agent . The Thrashers also used the striker exclusively in the farm team, the Chicago Wolves , in the AHL, so that he finally switched to MODO Hockey in the Swedish Elitserien .

The following season, Morrison played for four different European clubs. First he played two games in the Finnish SM-liiga for TPS Turku , before the attacker then moved back to Sweden in the elite series with the Frölunda Indians . After a further eleven games for the Indians and a short stint at Rauman Lukko , the people in charge of the Swiss club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers were able to convince him of a commitment in the National League A , where Justin Morrison ended the current season.

After the start of the 2008/09 season, the attacker left Switzerland and signed a trial contract with the in the newly formed Continental Hockey League represented HC Dinamo Minsk . Morrison was only used three times and had to leave the club. After another try-out at HC Davos , the American finally moved to the German ice hockey league with the Hamburg Freezers . After his contract with the Freezers was not renewed in the summer of 2009, Morrison returned to the SM-liiga to Lukko Rauma, where he ended his career after two years.
