The deportation detention facility in Pforzheim is a special facility for deportation detention , managed by the Karlsruhe regional council . Your task is to keep foreigners in custody and take care of them to secure deportation . It is located in the east of Pforzheim in the middle of a residential area.

Until December 31, 2015, it was a penal institution in the state of Baden-Württemberg for young people between 14 and 21 years of age with a prison sentence of 6 months to 10 years. On April 1, 2016, after renovation work, it was reopened as a deportation detention center.

The building was built in 1900 and after opening in 1901 it was used as a prison and court . In the years 1966-69 the prison was temporarily closed and expanded. In 1996 it was converted into a juvenile detention center and offered space for around 150 inmates after House 1 and the gate guard had been completely refurbished from 2001 to 2003. The juvenile prisoners were divided into four compartments with 25 beds each; in house 2 there were 25 more beds.

The area of ​​the prison is roughly square with the dimensions 65 × 65 meters and surrounded by a 5.20-5.50 meter high concrete wall.
