Juvenile Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The so-called Juvenile Award was a special award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which was presented during the Oscar ceremony. It was a miniature version of the regular Oscar statue. The first winner was Shirley Temple, then six years old . This prize is no longer awarded today, as children can now also appear in the normal nomination lists (for example Tatum O'Neal for her role in Paper Moon , Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver , Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense , Keisha Castle-Hughes in Whale Rider , Anna Paquin in Das Piano , Abigail Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine , Saoirse Ronan in Atonement , Hailee Steinfeld in True Grit or Quvenzhané Wallis in Beasts of the Southern Wild ).
