Juzefs Petkēvičs
Juzefs Petkēvičs (born December 19, 1940 in Riga ; spelling at the World Chess Federation FIDE Jusefs Petkevich ) is a Latvian chess player .
He was able to win the championship of the Latvian SSR twice: 1974 (shared first with Vladimir Kirpičņikovs ) and 1985 (shared first with Alvis Vitolinš ). He played for Latvia in three Chess Olympiads : 1994 to 1998 . He played several times for the Latvian SSR at the Soviet team championships (1967, 1975 and 1979).
In 2002 he became the senior world chess champion in Naumburg .
In 1980 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM) and in 2002 the title of Grand Master (GM).
