Ilmārs Starostīts (born May 30, 1979 in Rēzekne ) is a Latvian chess player .

He won the Latvian individual championship in Riga in 2002. He played for Latvia at two Chess Olympiads : 2002 and 2012 . He also took part in the European Team Championship in Porto Carras in 2011 .

In Germany he played for SG Speyer-Schwegenheim .

In 2001 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM) and in 2010 the title of Grand Master (GM).
