JydskeVestkysten ( Jutland West Coast ) is the largest regional daily newspaper in Denmark . It was created in 1991 from a merger of the newspapers Vestkysten (founded in 1917) and Jyske Tidende (founded in 1929), both of which had long struggled to become the leader in southern Jutland .

The newspaper belongs to the regional media group Syddanske Medier . The initial co-owner Berlingske Media (formerly Jydske Tidende ) sold its 50 percent stake in 2013 to Den Sydvestjydske Venstrepresse (formerly Vestkysten ).

The main editorial office of the daily newspaper is in Esbjerg . Their distribution area covers the southern and western Jutland including northern Schleswig . Nine local editions are published for the respective municipalities in their area: Aabenraa , Billund , Esbjerg , Haderslev , Kolding , Sønderborg , Tønder , Varde and Vejen . While in the mid-1990s a daily circulation of well over 90,000 was achieved, it fell to 68,460 copies per day in the second half of 2008 (76,019 on Sundays). Nevertheless, the newspaper in the region - apart from the newspaper of the German ethnic group, the Nordschleswiger - has a virtually monopoly position. Around 120 editorial staff work for JydskeVestkysten at eleven locations.
