Käthe Dorn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Käthe Dorn (also: Käte Dorn , pseudonym for Rosa Springer , born April 17, 1866 in Großschönau ; † not determined, according to unconfirmed information in 1925) was a German writer .

Life

Käthe Dorn was the daughter of a pharmacist with three older siblings. She intended to become a teacher, but had to stop attending the teachers' seminar for health reasons (lung disease). She worked as a domestic help in a rectory and later in the household of an uncle. She later moved in with her mother, who lived in Saalendorf . From 1899 Käthe Dorn was based in Zittau and finally from 1904 in Dresden . There is no reliable information about her later life or the time of her death.

Käthe Dorn showed an inclination and aptitude for writing from an early age . Since the nineties of the 19th century she has published - mostly in booklet form - an extensive and at the time very successful narrative work, which is characterized by pietistic piety and, in its stylistic simplicity, can be largely attributed to Protestant edification literature. As a result, she was also referred to as the “Reichsgottesarbeiterin”. Käthe Dorn knew Dora Rappard and gave a lecture at the Blankenburg conference on the effects of her books.
