King Drosselbart is a German fairy tale film by Herbert B. Fredersdorf from 1954. It is based on the Grimm fairy tale King Drosselbart , from which it deviates considerably in the layout.
action
According to her father's will, the indecisive Princess Christine has to marry the first man she meets. In this way, the young King Drosselbart, disguised as a beggar, succeeds in making her his wife. To teach her an apprenticeship, he lets her do rough work in a forest hut and sell pots in the market. Since she really loves her husband, no effort is too much. After she has also passed the last test, King Thrushbeard is sure that she will be a good wife and queen and reveals himself to her.
Production notes
The film was produced in a makeshift studio in the Berlin-Charlottenburg Higher Administrative Court . The outdoor shots were taken in and around the Grunewald hunting lodge . Karl Vollbrecht created the buildings, producer Bernhard F. Schmidt took over the production management. Screenwriter Emil Surmann can be heard as a commentator. The film opened in the Federal Republic of Germany on August 15, 1954 in Göttingen . The film was also shown at the IV Berlin International Film Festival .
