The Kühbach is a creek about six kilometers long in Lower Franconia , which, coming from the west , flows into the Main from the left in Würzburg .

Surname

The Bachtal used to be called Kunimund , then Kunbach-Grund . After the brook, the Mainviertel once bore the name "in the Kunbach".

geography

course

The Kühbach arises at an altitude of 323  m above sea level. NN in the southwestern Maindreieck on the Marktheidenfelder Platte southwest of Höchberg on the southern slope of the Zweierberg ( 336.3  m above sea level ) in the corridor Tiergarten on the edge of a forest.

It first flows northwest through grassland on the edge of the forest, then crosses under the B 27 and then continues through the fields and meadows of the Tiergartengrund along the southeast slope of the Zweierberg . It then reaches the south-western edge of Höchberg, crosses the Bürgermeister-Seubert-Straße there and soon afterwards disappears into the underground. His way there presumably led from the street Am Graben over the Wagnergässchen to the Winterleitweg . North of the Leistenstrasse , the stream briefly emerges on the surface, and then disappears underground again half a kilometer down the stream.

It then only appears on the surface again after it has crossed the boundary to Würzburg . The stream now flows eastwards through the narrow valley named after it. From there it marks the border between Zellerau and then the Mainviertel of Würzburg's old town in the north and the Steinbachtal district in the south, almost to the mouth .

The stream then runs south along the Marienberg Fortress and finally flows through pipes at an altitude of 168.5  m above sea level. NN in the Würzburg basin in the Steinbachtal district below the Ludwigsbrücke from the left into the Main flowing in from the south .
