KMPFSPRT is a German punk band from Cologne that is under contract with the People Like You Records label .

history

Kmpfsprt was founded in 2010 under the name Lyon Estates. Since the name was already taken, however, it was decided to use the name martial arts. Since this sounded too martial, the band changed the name by leaving out the vowels , as is common today in hipster language. The individual members were previously at Fire in the Attic and Days in Grief and have now switched to German texts. In 2012, Redfield Records released the EP This is not a name for a band , which comprised six songs and was released both on record and as digipak .

After the EP, a long, extensive tour followed in 2012. Among other things, the band played together with the cashiers at the Ringrocker Warm Up Party . In 2014, the debut album Jugend mutated was released via Uncle M. The band then toured with the American punk band A Wilhelm Scream .

At the beginning of 2015, the band announced the departure of the drummer Max Schreiber for professional and family reasons. In 2016, People Like You Records released the band's second album with Intervention , which reached number 76 in the German album charts. From May 2017 Daniel Plotzki, who has already played with Fire in the Attic , will take the position on drums. In November 2019, the band announced that Daniel Plotzki was leaving the band.

style

Kmpfsprt plays hard punk rock with German lyrics. These mainly deal with scene-relevant topics. With the piece Musikdienstverweigerer the band positions itself against today's German rock and in particular nationalistic issues, such as with the band Frei.Wild . Many texts deal with aging in the punk scene. The band is often compared to Turbostaat , which the members themselves cannot fully understand, as they tend to locate themselves in post-punk and state Title Fight and I Am the Avalanche as influences .
