Kaag , also De Kaag , is a place (village) in the Kaagerpolder in the Dutch province of South Holland . Administratively, the place belongs to the municipality of Kaag en Braassem . The village is located about 8 km northeast of Leiden on the Kaagerpolder in Lake Kagerplassen , which was previously directly connected to the Haarlemmermeer before it was drained . In 2012 Kaag had 328 inhabitants. The island can only be reached by ferry from Buitenkaag or Oud Ade .

The name Kaag became known worldwide through the shipyard "Feadship" founded there in 1949, which has belonged to the French luxury brand group LVMH Moët Hennessy - Louis Vuitton SA since 2008 . Feadship is one of the most exclusive shipyards in the world and manufactures luxury and mega yachts . Henry Ford had a feadship from Kaag, as did Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen , King Khalid of Saudi Arabia and Apple founder Steve Jobs . The Russian oligarch Roman Abramowitsch had his motor yacht Sussurro built there.
