Kaatschen-Weichau with its parts Kaatschen and Weichau is a dependent village, administratively part of the municipality of Großheringen in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . The place is in the valley of the Saale between Camburg and Bad Kösen .

Weichau was first mentioned in 1349 as Wech .

Kaatschen is a wine-growing town in the south of the Saale-Unstrut growing region . On limestone soils are Bacchus , Chasselas , Kerner , Müller-Thurgau , Sylvaner , Pinot Blanc as one of the northernmost locations of these red grape - - and Zweigelt built. The Weinbergfest takes place in Kaatschen-Weichau every first weekend in September.

The Ilm cycle path from Großheringen joins the Saale cycle path in the district of Weichau .
