Kade Schacht , occasionally KD Schacht or KaDe Schacht , born as Klaus-Detlev Schacht (born December 18, 1951 in Leipzig , † August 15, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German journalist , book author , translator , radio play author and painter .

Life

Kade Schacht was an ubiquitous figure in Berlin nightlife in the late 1970s and 1980s. A bohemian mostly out and about in trendy pubs and music halls of punks , post-punks, genius dilletantes and in various galleries and publishers such as Merve Verlag, for which he translated various books. Humor and laughter made him stand out. A very pointed intellectuality due to great reading and studies in philosophy , ethnology , religious studies , psychoanalysisand diverse interests (including in drug experiments) made him a profound and amusing, often bizarre conversation partner, lecturer and essayist .

In the early 1980s he was program curator at the trendy Korrekt in Moabit . At the same time he wrote concert reviews for the Berlin city magazine Tip and mainly reported on artists and concerts in the former Music Hall (in Steglitz), the SO 36 ( Kreuzberg ), or Exxcess ( Charlottenburg ). And he had a fortnightly column in the same magazine called Inside until the late 1980s .

In the second half of the decade he appeared at irregular intervals in the Offener Kanal Berlin to interview personalities of the time under the pseudonym Paul Anker .

Previously, now married and father of a son, he had tried to put his life on a more solid basis by training to be a religion teacher at high schools. His extremely unconventional teaching style and disagreement with the instructors and institutions led to the termination. Schacht's last breadwork consisted of excerpting old Brandenburg church records ; he had the rare ability to read the church book entries of the 17th and 18th centuries, which were very difficult to read.

In 2011, Frieder Butzmann announced at the BONE Festival for Action Art in Bern, alluding to the title of Schacht's watercolor collection, that he would appear under Karmic Dabs - for KaDe Schacht and six other brilliant deceased .
