Kai Niggemann

Kai Niggemann (born July 10, 1972 in Bochum ) is a German composer, producer and sound designer.

Life

Niggemann works as a solo artist and with various groups and ensembles. Among other things, he is part of the music group The Dorf , a large formation based in the Ruhr area from the fields of jazz , krautrock and experimental music. He produces ambient with the improviser Henning Pertiet in the music group GRAT. He is a member of the Resonator project and was a composer and performer for the laptop / network music ensemble European Bridges Ensemble (more on this in the entry on the interactive composition environment Quintet.net ), until its dissolution in 2014, as well as audio designer for the theater label Ohrpilot. Together with Oliver Froning / Dune (band) he produces for their own label Rawcanine records and the artist MGness .

He composes and produces music for theater for city theaters, state theaters, state theaters and in the independent scene, for children and youth theaters as well as for adults. Together with director Ruth Schultz, he founded the production label Paradeiser Productions as musical director in 2009. He holds a teaching position for sound design at the Münster Art Academy . For his experimental music, he specialized in the Buchla 200e Electric Music Box, a modular synthesizer that makes the very specific ideas on sound generation and manipulation (especially the generation of random control signals) of its inventor Don Buchla available for musical use.
