Kaire Leibak (born May 21, 1988 in Tartu ) is a former Estonian athlete .

Athletic career

In 2005 Leibak took part in the Youth World Championships in Marrakech . There she won the silver medal in the triple jump and took seventh place in the long jump .

A year later she won the gold medal in the triple jump at the Junior World Championships in Beijing . In this competition she jumped the Estonian national record with 14.43 m. She also won the gold medal at the 2007 European Junior Championships in Hengelo . This year she also competed in her first international senior competition at the IAAF Super Grand Prix . She was eighth at the Athletissima in Lausanne and seventh at the Herculis in Monaco .

In her first major international competition, the Indoor World Championships in 2008 in Valencia , Spain , Leibak was only able to achieve 17th place in her qualifying group with a poor performance of 13.32 m and thus not qualify for the final of the top twelve athletes. But she succeeded in doing this a few months later at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. With a width of 14.13 m, the 20-year-old athlete took tenth place in the Olympic triple jump final. At the European Indoor Championships in Turin in 2009 , Leibak missed the final with 13.99 m. With a season best of 14.20 m, she qualified for the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , which she had to cancel at short notice due to an injury.
