history

In Kaknäs there is a burial ground with 30 visible graves from the Iron Age (375–1050 AD). The graves consist of eleven burial mounds and 19 mostly round stone carvings. One of these graves, which has been investigated by scientists, comes from the time of the Vikings according to their findings. It contained burned bones, the remains of a clay pot and iron rivets. In ancient times the area was an island completely surrounded by water. These and other archaeological finds gave the Kaknäst Tower its name.

During the 1912 Summer Olympics , the shooting competitions and the modern pentathlon were held on the Kaknäs skjutbanor .
