Kalle Laar

Kalle Laar (* 1955 ) is a German musician and performance artist of Latvian-Estonian descent. Together with Barbara Holzherr, he is the founder and operator of the Temporary Sound Museum in the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in Munich. Laar also performs as a DJ .

Live and act

Kalle Laar studied Medieval History and the History of Science at the LMU Munich and obtained a Master of Arts degree .

From 1989 he went on tour with the Japanese percussionist Takashi Kazamaki through Europe, the USA and Japan. They gave over 100 concerts and recorded several CDs. Laar released CDs with well-known artists such as Elliott Sharp , Christian Marclay , Samm Bennett , Tom Cora and William Parker .

In 1996 he founded the Temporary Sound Museum with Barbara Holzherr . Kalle Laar works as an editor for the Trikont label . He teaches architecture and sound at the Munich University of Applied Sciences.

Together with the Berlin artist Zeitblom he realized several projects such as Das Warheads-Oratorium (1997), Metropolis (2001), M - a city is looking for a murderer (2003) and Hangmen Also Die (2005). Metropolis was named Radio Play of the Year in 2001 and won a silver medal at the New York Festival.

Kalle Laar lives in Krailling near Munich and in Vienna .
