Kaluka Maiava (* 27. December 1986 in Honolulu , Hawaii ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . In his career he played for the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

Maiava attended high school in Wailuku , Hawaii . He later attended the University of Southern California , where he played college football under his coach Pete Carroll . Here he played alongside Brian Cushing , Clay Matthews III and Rey Maualuga on the position of linebacker. In the Rose Bowl 2009 he was named a defensive MVP .

NFL

Cleveland Browns

In the 2009 NFL Draft Maiava was selected in the fourth round in 104th place by the Cleveland Browns .

Oakland Raiders

On March 13, 2013 Maiava signed a three-year contract with the Oakland Raiders . On July 10, 2013, Maiava was charged with property damage and bodily harm. On November 17, 2014 Maiava was released by the Raiders in the middle of the season.

Personal

Maiava's father, Scott Mahoney, played college football at the University of Colorado as an offensive lineman . His brother, Kai, also played college football at the University of Colorado. Kaluka Maiava is the nephew of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson .
