particularities High medieval border description

The Kambühl is a completely forested mountain in the east of the Wartburg district in Thuringia , its height is 453.6  m above sea level. HN . The mountain is made of red sandstone.

The corridors of the districts Sättelstädt , Sondra and Kälberfeld (all in the municipality of Hörselberg-Hainich ) and the district of Deubach, which belongs to Wutha-Farnroda , meet near the summit . The Kambühl is located roughly in the middle between the two landmarks Großer Hörselberg ( 484  m above sea level ) and the Großer Wartberg near Seebach ( 567.7  m above sea level ). It forms a section of the watershed between the Emse and the Deubach in the Hörsel river system .

The first documentary mention as "Kabenbuhele" dates from December 30th (between 1015 and 1018). In this document from Emperor Heinrich , the monastery at Fulda was granted the wild ban in the Thuringian district and the Mark Lupenzo ( Lupnitz ). The boundary of the Mark Lupnitz was then described with the help of striking mountains, trees, rivers and other boundary points.

The Kambühl belongs to the legends of the nearby Hörselberge. It is the scene of the wild hunt in the Rauhnächten .
