Location of Deubach in Wutha-Farnroda

Deubach is a district of the municipality of Wutha-Farnroda in the Wartburg district in West Thuringia with around 310 inhabitants. The namesake of the forest hoof village , which extends over a length of about three kilometers, is the Deubach, which flows from south to north through the village to the Hörsel . Deubach has its own district, but has been part of Schönau since the 1950s .

geography

The district borders on Schönau in the north and east , Kälberfeld and Sättelstädt in the east, Seebach in the south and Farnroda in the south-west and west .

In the Deubach district are the Kambühl ( 453.6  m above sea level ) as the highest elevation, as well as the Fuchsberg ( 437.7  m above sea level ) and the Eichberg ( 364.9  m above sea level ). The Deubach is an orographically left tributary of the Hörsel . It has a length of 3.9 kilometers and rises at the upper end of Deubach on the northwest slope of the Kambühl .

history

Deubach was created as a forest hoof village in the last medieval clearing period in the 12th century. As court lords , the Wangenheimers ruled and administered the place. From 1452 it belonged to the Scharfenberg rule , which belonged to those of Uetterodt . In addition to the official and court town of Thal , Deubach also included the towns of Weißenborn, Schmerbach, Schwarzhausen, Sättelstädt and parts of Ruhla , Schönau and Stockhausen to their rule. The rule ( Uetterodtsches court ) was sold to the Duke of Saxe-Gotha in 1837 . The place is mentioned after Gerbing in 1436 and 1493 in the municipal archive of Sättelstedt as Teybach . The change in ownership was accompanied by the fact that the former Uetterodtsche patrimonial court in Thal was converted into a ducal Saxon court office.

Deubach was incorporated into Schönau on July 1, 1950 .

Attractions

In the center of the local situation, on a hill, is the Protestant Peter and Paul Church , it is the oldest building in Deubach. It is probably founded by Bonifacius himself or by his students and is said to have been a small chapel at first, to which frequent pilgrimages went. It fell into disrepair in the 16th century and was rebuilt in the 18th century. The tower was placed on the church wall in 1740 and the sacristy was added in 1775. During the time of the church's decline, the Deubach people were parish in the Schönau church.

Numerous old courtyards and half-timbered houses line the village street and still form a closed historical town center with fish ponds, gardens, orchards and pastures.

Associations and regular events

Today, cultural life is closely linked to Schönau and the other districts of Wutha-Farnroda. The Deubach and Schönau bakers have their domicile in the Schönau Hörselberg Museum. Every year in autumn the traditional Deubach fair takes place, on April 30th the Walpurgistanz takes place on the fairground.
