Kanehtiio Horn , also known as Tiio Horn , (* 1986 in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce , Montreal , Québec ) is a Canadian actress .

life and career

Kanehtiio Horn was born in 1986 in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce , Montreal in the Canadian province of Québec . She is of Indian descent, more precisely a Mohawk , and comes from the Mohawk reservation Kahnawake . Her mother, Kahn-Tineta Horn, was a model and campaigned politically for the rights of the Kahnawake First Nation . Horn has six older sisters. In 1990 , at the age of four, Horn was there with her sister Waneek Horn-Miller and her mother during the Oka crisis . Her sister was injured in the hip by a soldier with a bayonet while she was holding Horn in her arm. A photo of the incident appeared on the front pages of Canadian newspapers and became a symbol of the uprising between the Mohawks and the Canadian government. Despite this injury, Waneek Horn-Miller later became co-captain of the Canadian women's water polo team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics .

Kanehtiio Horn's first major role was in 2006 in the CBC mini-series Indian Summer: The Oka Crisis . In 2007 she starred in the drama The Colony . She also took on the role of Evelyn in the thriller The Wild Hunt from director Alexandre Franchi . She was nominated for a Gemini Award for her appearance in the TV movie Moccasin Flats: Redemption . From 2010 to 2011 she starred as Monica Bellow in the CBC - sitcom 18 to Life with.
