The canton of Chiarumani (also: Chairumani ) is an administrative district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The canton of Chiarumani is one of twelve cantons in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Patacamaya in the province of Aroma and is located in the northeastern part of the district. It borders the province of Loayza to the north and east , the canton Viscachani to the northwest , the canton Villa Concepción de Belén to the west, the canton Chacoma to the south, and the canton Colchani to the southeast .
The canton extends between 17 ° 08 'and 17 ° 12' south latitude and 67 ° 46 'and 67 ° 55' west latitude, it measures up to seven kilometers from north to south and up to fifteen kilometers from west to east. The canton has ten localities ( localidades ), the central place is Chiarumani with 494 inhabitants ( 2012 ) in the western part of the canton.

The canton of Chiarumani is located on the Bolivian plateau between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the fluctuations in mean daytime temperatures are more pronounced than the temperature fluctuations between the seasons.
The annual average temperature of the region is around 7 ° C, the monthly values fluctuate only slightly between 4 ° C in June / July and 9 ° C in November / December (see climate diagram Patacamaya). The annual precipitation is 460 mm, the monthly precipitation is between under 10 mm from May to August and at 110 mm in January.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population, in the municipality of Patacamaya 83.2% of the population speak the Aymara language .
