The canton of San Juan is a municipality in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Cantón San Juan is one of thirteen cantons in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Colcha "K" in the province of Nor Lípez . It borders in the north on the canton Colcha "K" , in the west on the municipality San Pedro de Quemes , in the south on the canton Soniquera , in the southeast on the province Enrique Baldivieso , in the east on the canton Calcha "K" , and in the northeast to the canton of Santiago .

The canton extends south of the Salar de Uyuni salt lake between about 20 ° 45 'and 21 ° 36' south latitude and 67 ° 36 'and 68 ° 06' west longitude, it measures from north to south up to 105 kilometers, from west to East to 40 kilometers. In the northern part of the canton is the administrative seat of the canton, San Juan de Rosario , with 480 inhabitants ( 2012 census ). The mean altitude of the canton is 3900  m .
