Although he could only fight for results outside of the World Cup points in the following years, he was nominated for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . His best result was 38th place in the sprint competition. In the following season he finished 25th at the World Cup in Oberhof over the distance of 15 kilometers classic and thus secured his first World Cup points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 , he made it into the finals in the sprint competition. In the end result, he finished 25th. At the end of the season he managed to improve this result with 16th place at the Sprint World Cup in Borlänge . His performances stabilized in the 2004/05 season, so that he was able to place regularly in sprint competitions in the points. At the World Cup in Reit im Winkl , he made it into the top ten for the first time. He also succeeded in confirming these achievements at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberhof, where he finished 16th in the sprint. Together with Erki Jallai he reached 12th place in the team sprint.

At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , however, he missed qualifying for the finals. Together with Anti Saarepuu he fought for the 14th place in the team sprint. At the end of the season he achieved his best career result with ninth place at the World Cup in Changchun . In the overall ranking of the Sprint World Cup, he finished 21st this season. In the 2006/07 season , Narusks results in distance competitions improved, but he could no longer build on the performances of previous years in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo in 2007 , he reached the finals in the sprint competition, but in the end only finished 29th. Over 50 kilometers classic he was 28th At the start of the 2008/09 season he was able to occupy 19th place in the sprint in Kuusamo . However, this was his only result among the top 30 athletes in a World Cup competition that season. Nevertheless, he was nominated for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009. As the 46th, however, he also missed the qualification for the finals in the sprint competition there.

After the Estonian Ski Association had stopped financial support for older athletes in the B-squad in 2009 and only allowed them two starts at World Cup competitions, Narusk switched to biathlon for the 2009/10 season . Narusk had already participated in an international patrol run for the first time at the World Military Championships in Östersund in 2004 . Already in summer he took part in the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2009 in Oberhof and was 41st in the cross-country sprint. The Estonian had his first winter races in the first races of the IBU Cup in Idre , where he finished 69th and 62nd in the sprint competitions. He made his debut in the World Cup in January 2010 in Oberhof as part of a relay race after winning the bronze medal at the Estonian championship behind Roland Lessing and Indrek Tobreluts a week earlier . He was 14th with his teammates and two days later he competed in a sprint race for the first time in a single World Cup race. In difficult external conditions, he immediately won his first World Cup points with three shooting errors, finishing 33rd. However, he was unable to build on this success and mostly placed far outside of the World Cup points. And he did not succeed in qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics , either. In the 2010/11 season , too , he did not make it into the top 40 athletes in an individual competition. Nevertheless, he was nominated for the 2011 Biathlon World Championship and finished 77th in the sprint competition. In March 2011, Narusk announced his retirement from competitive sports.
