Cape Madona is located in the western part of the Slovenian Riviera and in the urban area of Piran . The landside part is densely built up; The church of St. Clementa ( Slovene Sv. It initially falls shallowly to a depth of four to five meters, then drops steeply to merge into a sand-covered area between ten and fifteen meters.

As part of the settlement of the disputes between Slovenia and Croatia over the course of the maritime border between the two states in the Bay of Piran , the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) called Cape Madona as the eastern end of the bay and drew the baseline west to the Cape from here Savudrija .
