Karl-Friedrich Hölzke

Karl-Friedrich Hölzke (born July 5, 1920 in Barby ; † October 28, 2012 ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Hölzke's training began with the pedagogue Marli Gothe in Köthen / Bernburg . Then he was a student of Brockhaus in Weimar . He first appeared at the Bernburg Theater in 1946/47 , where he made his debut as Nando in Tiefland by Eugen d'Albert . His actual operatic career began in 1947 at the Landestheater von Gotha , of which he was a member until 1950. From 1950 to 1952 he was engaged at the Landestheater Halle (Saale) ; then he followed a call to the Dresden State Opera . Here he first sang lyrical roles, later mainly in the Italian lyrical and youthful hero subjects. From 1954 to 1960 he was also associated with the Komische Oper Berlin . In 1962 he took part in the world premiere of the opera Dorian Gray by Robert Hanell in Dresden, in 1969 in that of Maître Pathelin by Rainer Kunad , and in 1976 in the world premiere of Udo Zimmermann's Der Schuhu und die flying princess .

Hölzke was also contractually associated with the Berlin State Opera . Guest appearances have taken the artist, in particular in the ensemble of the Dresden Opera, to the national operas of Bucharest , Prague and Bratislava , to the Berlin State Opera, to the Leningrad Opera House and to several stages in West Germany.

He sang on stage roles such as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni , the Henry in The Silent Woman by Richard Strauss , Hans in The Bartered Bride , the Des Grieux in Massenet's Manon , the Lucullus in Condemnation of Lucullus by Paul Dessau , the Lukas in The Kiss ( Hubička ) by Bedřich Smetana and the title role in Albert Herring by Benjamin Britten , later character roles such as Don Basilio in Figaro's wedding and Ulrich Eißlinger in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg . He celebrated his 50th stage anniversary in Dresden in 1996 ; he was an honorary member of the Dresden State Opera .
