Robert Hanell

Robert Hanell (born March 2, 1925 in Tschoschl , Czechoslovakia ; † March 14, 2009 in Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf , Germany ) was a German conductor and composer .

Life

Hanell, who originally wanted to become a teacher of ancient languages, took private music lessons from H. Zitterbart in Teplitz , where he worked as a répétiteur and choir conductor from 1943 onwards. In 1944 he became musical director in Meiningen and worked in the same position at the Zwickau Theater from 1945 to 1948 and at the Gera Theater from 1948 to 1950 . In 1952 Hanell became the city's music director in Görlitz before he was appointed first conductor at the Komische Oper Berlin in 1955 by Walter Felsenstein . In 1965 he took over as chief conductor of the Great Radio Orchestra Berlin . In addition, he was a permanent guest conductor at the Berlin State Opera , the Leipzig Opera House , the Dresden State Opera and the Chemnitz Opera House . Guest appearances have taken him to Munich , Hanover , Frankfurt am Main , Prague and Warsaw, among others .

For his work as chief conductor of the Great Radio Orchestra Berlin and as permanent guest conductor of the State Opera, Hanell was awarded the Goethe Prize of the City of Berlin on September 2, 1981 .
