Live and act
He was born in the forester's house in Stiftswald near Kaiserslautern as the son of the local forester Wilhelm Ritter and attended the Kaiserslautern Latin and Trade School. On October 26, 1857, he joined the Bavarian Forest Service. Ritter graduated from the Aschaffenburg Forest Academy and worked for four years as a forest assistant in Frankenstein (Palatinate) . Then he came to Birkenhördt as a district forester , and a year later to Ludwigswinkel (Forsthaus Reißlerhof ).
In 1865 Karl Albrecht Ritter was transferred to the forest administration in Speyer. In 1877 he became district forester and in 1885 forestry councilor. In 1886 he was promoted to chief forestry officer and head of the Palatinate forestry department. He held the rank of government director. In 1903 Ritter became the founding chairman of the new Palatinate Forest Association. He held this office until 1912. He brought the forestry to a high level and promoted tourism and the migratory movement.
For his services to the Palatinate, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown on New Year 1909 , which was associated with the personal title of nobility.
Under Ritter's chairmanship, the Palatinate Forest Association began to set up inscription stones in 1908 to mark remarkable locations. These stones are placed in the Palatinate Forest to this day and in memory of Karl Albrecht von Ritter they have been called "knight stones " since 1912.
Ritter was married to Elisabeth born. Bosch (1842–1900) and friends with the local historian and poet-priest Fritz Claus . He died in 1917 and was buried in the Speyer cemetery, where his grave has been preserved (2012).
The Luitpold Tower in the Palatinate Forest was also initiated by Fritz Claus and Karl Albrecht von Ritter. Ludwig Ullmann (1872–1943), Ritter's son-in-law and twin brother of Heinrich Ullmann (1872–1953), designed the building plan .
