Karl Engel (painter)
Karl Engel (born October 29, 1889 in Kirchbach (Carinthia) , † November 10, 1985 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter and draftsman for glass painting .
life and work
Karl Engel received his training during eight years of study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Rudolf Bacher .
Works
- In 1935 he painted the double doors of the positive balustrade of the organ of the old Ottakring parish church .
- In 1949 he exhibited his watercolor Harmonie at the spring exhibition of the Vienna Künstlerhaus .
Further activities in Vienna in the mid-1970s are guaranteed.
- Wall painting in the Hubertuskirche at the Lainzer Tiergarten
- Stained glass in the Lachsfeld branch church
- Altarpiece in the Schwechat cemetery church
- Frescoes in the parish church Neckenmarkt , parish church Kittsee and in the parish church Eichgraben
- Portrait of Otto Bauer , oil on canvas, approx. 110 × 90 cm, Heeresgeschichtliches Museum , Vienna
He often signed his works with a symbol, a heart with a cross on it .
