Karl Friedrich Krüger (born December 18, 1765 in Berlin , † April 21, 1828 in Vienna ) was a German actor and the brother of actress Caroline Demmer .

Life

Krüger's father was a musician in the royal chapel in Berlin. He himself made his debut on February 14, 1785 at the Court Theater in Berlin as Kosinsky in Schiller's drama Die Räuber . In 1786/87 he - with his sister - was engaged in Weimar , later in Magdeburg and Hanover , and in 1789 went to Amsterdam . In 1791 he returned to Weimar and worked there until 1793. At the Weimar first performance of Don Carlos on February 22, 1792, he played Domingo.

Further stations were again Amsterdam, Prague , Karlsbad , Chemnitz , Leipzig (1797–1799), Freiberg , Teplitz and from 1800 Brno .

In 1802 he went to the Vienna Burgtheater , to which he belonged until his death. He was considered an extremely versatile performer, who later also appeared as a comedian. Ignaz Franz Castelli writes about him:

“Krüger was an adornment of the Viennese court theater in both touching and comical ways. I have never seen old dudes like Hofmarschall Kalb and old Wallenstein in 'Player' represented with this truth. "

He was married to the actress Karoline Krüger , his sister-in-law was Franziska Romana Koch and his father-in-law Antonín Jiránek . Anna Feodorowna Krüger , also an actress, was his adopted daughter.
