Life
Karl Hermann Müller, son of a master tanner , first attended the drawing school for the textile industry in Plauen , then the Dresden School of Applied Arts . In Leipzig he worked as an illustrator for books in order to finance his further education. In 1893 he was accepted at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich ; Paul Hoecker , Ludwig von Herterich and Franz Defregger were his teachers. In the summer, open-air painting was taught in Neubünsch , which made a lasting impression on Müller. He got to know and love the nearby Samerberg , which is why he settled in the Riederhaus in Törwang from 1909 and gave the artist name Müller-Samerberg.
