Karl Jung (born June 23, 1883 in Pirmasens , † January 19, 1965 in Hennenbach ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and SS leader .

Live and act

After attending elementary school and the Progymnasium in Pirmasens and the humanistic grammar school in Landau , Jung studied law and political science in Heidelberg , Erlangen , Munich and Grenoble from 1902 to 1906 . In 1906 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. He then worked as a bank intern. In addition, he attended the commercial school in Berlin .

In 1907, Jung joined the protection force for German South West Africa as a one-year volunteer . After long journeys he settled in Okaputa as a farm owner in 1910. He used visits to Europe to study medicine . During the First World War , Jung was deployed from 1914 with the Royal Bavarian 5th Chevaulegers Regiment on the Western Front and in Romania . From September 1917 he was commander of the division radio operator division 1724 on the Palestine Front . From there he returned to the German Reich in April 1919, where he finished his medical studies in 1920. From 1921 to 1922 he stayed again on his farm in South West Africa . After 1922 Jung was head of several research laboratories in the German Reich.

Jung first joined the NSDAP on June 23, 1921. After the NSDAP ban, he rejoined the party on May 27, 1927 ( membership number 63,037). From 1932 to May 1934 Jung was the head of the colonial department of the National Defense Policy Office of the NSDAP.

After the transfer of power to the National Socialists, Jung joined the SS in December 1933 as Sturmhauptführer (SS No. 123.519). After several promotions, he reached the rank of SS Oberführer in September 1937 . Between May 1934 and February 1943 he was deputy of Reichsleiter Franz von Epp in the colonial policy office of the NSDAP . From March 1936 until the end of the Nazi regime in the spring of 1945, Jung was a member of the National Socialist Reichstag for constituency 18 (South Westphalia) . He was also a member of the German Academy and the Academy for German Law . During the Second World War , Jung was drafted for military service from October 1939 to November 1944 at the latest and assigned to the Deputy General Command of the VII Army Corps .
